I love horror movies I love talking about movies and I figured this would be something fun to do and I've already reviewed the entire screen franchise and now I'm covering the final destination franchise as I've never seen them this is a movie that.
I was not too excited for when I sat down and watched it for the reason that I really thought that the first two movies were quite mediocre although I like the second one a little bit more than the first one they are by no means great movies although enjoyable.
the third movie on On the other hand I actually think is genuinely good I actually quite enjoy final destination 3. I think it's actually kind of brilliant in many ways not without the general issues that I expect from a final destination movie but.
it is a major step up from the first two first of all let's talk about Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the first-ever performance she plays the character of wendy our main protagonist in this movie and I've got to say I loved her in this movie.
she proves herself in this movie that her going on in movies like Scott Pilgrim vs the world and much much more that she is a very talented actress that even in this really gave 110 she has so many emotional moments and a really good character that has developed through very emotional moments through certain twists and takes on the movie.

trying not to spoil anything too much but certain reveals happens and certain things she goes through in this movie that is quite traumatizing for her as a character and she with her performance are what really.
drives this movie and also, her character forward because I will admit even though she has a few emotional moments and some really good character development it's nothing to write home about and isn't as deep as you'd want.
it to be but what makes it feel so emotional and you can connect with her performance is because she is genuinely good in this movie and really gives 110 as I said I also think the premonition in this movie is far better than the first two.
I love the premonition in the second movie the highway sequence which was brilliantly filmed with great blending CGI and practical effects together and they did the exact same thing with final destination three filmings some stuff on a real roller coaster using CGI backdrops and everything to really make that big roller coaster come to life on what was only initially like a 20 25 foot roller coaster and doing that it made.
it feels alive it made it feels really good the blend of CGI and practicality in this movie which we'll talk about a little bit later is really seamless really well done filming a lot of the stunts in regards to the actors through hours upon hours per day filming.
while hung upside down or spinning around or being flung from you know an actual rollercoaster carriage on set by wires and contraptions and everything and it was really well done in front of green screens and every actor through those really had to put their body on the line and to the limits that they have and really brought.
it forward and dedicated themselves to this role I really appreciate that about this film but the premonition on the roller coaster I fear that more than anything even though I love roller coasters and everything.
I honestly fear dying on a roller coaster malfunction than I do driving a car and being in a plane crash and it's not just that but when wendy has the premonition and gets off the roller coaster the fact that her best friend and her boyfriend and a few other randoms were not allowed to get off and were just sent onto the roller coaster.

itself that kind of adds a lot more character and emotional turmoil to the character of wendy and everyone else making them feel you know even more relatable than you expected them to be from the first two movies and I really really appreciate that and what really helps this movie is returning to writers from the first two movies coming back.
once again yes they did the fourth movie as well which we'll get to in a couple days but I like what they did with this movie I like how they've learned from the mistakes of the first two movies and really uplifted.
it into something that was more impactful in this one and James wong returning from final destination 1 really did help that as well because he's the initial creator i also love the aspect of this movie although going a little bit too far tying.
it towards you know 911 and Abraham Lincoln but the whole photographs and everything in this movie that was taken at the fair before the premonition happened and before their deaths everyone who got off of the roller coaster and survived each photo has hints as to who.
how they will die and the order of what they will die as well and I really like that aspect one of them is in a fire with a turning bed one of them is having you know swords come down and getting their head crushed et cetera et cetera and it's really well done.
I love that aspect because there is a mystery within this movie and hints within every single photograph as to how they will die but not only that are you holding the right the photo that is their way of dying to figure out how they can die and also to stop it.
I love that aspect the practicality in this movie as well the prosthetics the gore the everything in this movie the tanning bed scene you have um what is it the actual actresses in the tanning bed but blending together shots of a stunt coordinator and you know a stunt woman actually having this flammable gel on her that keeps.
her a light for like 25 seconds she's allowed to stay alive for 25 seconds before it starts the burner and did a real fire stump.
which I appreciate the blending of practicality and all that with dummies to make the gall come to life with the death sequences like when what's his name the guy who's really annoying and obnoxious and the really unlikeable character in the final destination three.
the characters In this movie they're not very likable besides wendy in our other main male lead who's with her I don't remember his name being honest but they're the only likable characters everyone else is kind of just snobby.
teenagers but just the blending of dummies and practical gore and everything together works really really well but we will talk about a little bit of an issue with that a little later as well, to begin with as well the death sequences are very psychological in regards to how they died in the first movie well not the first movie sorry.
the first deaths in this movie in regards to the girls in the tanning bed is very well set up the suspense and the tension multiple ways of how they will die but also how they cannot get help is very well set up through clever direction clever editing and great great.

framing and cinematography focusing on those particular things leading to their deaths being burnt live in the tanning beds which was horrifying more psychological than anything in violent the sequence in the gym.
where the guy gets his head crushed the setup and everything in regards to the gym junkies and they're basically rattling everything around and then having the swords come down and cut the ropes on the machine that he's using for him to then have his head crossed.
which reminds me of detective Matthews death from uh saw four which was released the year after actually, I needed to correct myself there but really psychological it works really actually no yeah the year after it was released after my bad but.
it's very psychological very well set up but it does get a little ridiculous by the end i will talk about it I also love the fact of James wong and the rest of the crew in the cast did extensive reshoots on this movie to make the movie as good as.
it possibly could the the movie before it was amazing but when McKinley died in the movie getting crushed by the sign that was initially the real ending of the movie that's initially where it was meant to end but when test screen audiences saw this the movie they thought one.
it was too short and two it didn't really give it didn't have much closure in regards to an ending it felt very abrupt so five months after the principal shooting finished they went and did rewrites and reshoots over that time to then film the infamous train sequence in new york at the ending of the movie where the incredible premonition happens with everyone on the train.

it would have worked really really well granted with final destination 5 which I have now watched me am glad that they didn't because final destination 5 is a really awesome lookout for a review with a very special YouTuber collaboration coming out very very soon guys.
I can't wait to bring you that one but at the same time everything comes to a close with this and it has that sense of closure for possible trilogy or friend movies this franchise and I love that aspect was.

it was brilliantly done the use of miniatures with the train crash sequence awesome stuff in the other hand there are still some bad and some negatives about this movie first of all the unnecessary CGI gore there are unnecessary moments of gore in this movie in regards.
to the fact that they use a practice dummy and blood effects from when heads were crushed or bodies were smashed and smashed and what is it green screen sleeve suits when someone is crushed is used with practical gore and blood flying all over.
you know the set with two separate shots of a prosthetic leg and everything being smushed and then the blood going everywhere when they're crushed or what is the guy who plays Mckinley wearing the green scheme you know suit with half of his body to then get crushed and everything like.
they're blending the shots two together it could have really worked but they use CGI blood unnecessarily when the gym junkie has his head crushed there was an in the behind the scenes footage, there is a shot of a practical dummy being crushed and the blood going.

decide to use cgi instead and I don't understand the decision because of that because it looks really bad it has not aged well and i will also admit the second act of this movie is a little slow going I love the pacing of this movie.
it's the bristly pace for the most part and it's not the most boring activity in the world it's not breaking the movie by any means but it does feel a little too slow for my liking it's more or less than investigating the photos and everything even though they've got a general idea and the gist of things throwing in 911 and .everything else in there and it just doesn't make sense and.
it just slows the movie down way more than it needs to and it just feels like it meanders a little bit too much until they get to the fair sequence in the third act the dialogue and character interactions in this movie as well are nothing to write home about just like the first two movies and even the fourth movie the dialogue is pretty boring the dialogue.

feels so processed and unoriginal it feels very one-note and very wooden the interactions don't work the dialogue is like the first draft .as you'd expect from the first two movies as well and in the second half there are a lot of really dumb over-the-top deaths that just aren't as psychological as the first half of the movie and they go for that goal factor.
which I understand people go to these movies just like they go to a sword movie to see how people die angry to his fashion but it was like the first saw movie it was more psychological than gory and out there and over.
the top violent gorno sort of torture pawn whereas this became exactly that in the second half of final destination three in the end I really like final destination three it's out if I'm going to say anything I've watched all five movies now it is easily the second-best in the franchise it is a really damn good movie I may just step up from the first two.
it's got great performances even though the characters aren't very likable it's got a weak script but good characters in regards to wendy they're not particularly memorable but you like their presences on-screen in regards to the working together I love the mix of practicality I love the mix of CGI in cases except for the CG goal.

bonkers but also much much needed is very necessary and i loved how they went with this movie in regards to just going all out there in regards to the practicality and wanting to make this the best possible product.
I appreciate the filmmakers so much for this I really like final destination 3. I bought a line love it even though it is not a great movie by any means but it is a major step up from the first two, it is easily the second-best in the franchise i highly recommend you guys check it out.
